Brandon Hopkins, Karol Krey, Ivan Milosavljevic, Rebecca Schmidt, Paul Chisholm & Amber Vinchesi were participants in this year’s Wiley Expo in Feb. 21, in the Ag & Natural Science –Oral Presentations category and Herma Amalia & Alix Whitener Poster Presentation category.  Winners will be announced next week. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

WSU Instructor Appreciation Day at the Bookie March 6th from 9-3 pm on the Ground Floor in School Supplies. Free  food, coffee and raffles. Meet with Publisher Reps and learn more about textbook rentals, ebooks, and buyback. Summer book orders due by March 14 and fall book orders are due by April 4.

The WSU Entomology Department & the Center for Reproductive Biology invite you to attend a special presentation by Dr. Patricia Moore, Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia on March 5, 2014, in CUE 518 from 12:10-1:00 PM.  Dr. Moore’s talk is titled “The Role of Reproductive Physiology in Ameliorating Environmental Stress.”  This is part of the Entomology Colloquium series.  Please note the location change for this event.   For more information on Dr. Moore go to: http://www.ent.uga.edu/personnel/faculty/moore.htm

LEAD 2014 Leadership & Engagement Awards of Distinction is Now Accepting Nominations for the 2014 President’s Award for LeadershipSince 1996, the President’s Award has been an honor bestowed annually to students and others who advance leadership and engagement at WSU. Recipients of this prestigious award demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community and/or support leadership development and engagement of WSU students. Award recipients will be honored at the Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD) event on April 24, 2014. E. Paul Catts Memorial Lecture Events will be on March 12 & 13.  This year’s speaker will be Dr. H. Frederik Nijhou.  His first presentation will be on March 12 at 12:10 PM in FSHN 354 and is titled: The Developmental Physiology of Body Size: Studies with Manduca sexta. On March 13 he will be speaking at 4:10-5:00 PM in CUE 203.  A reception will follow at 5:30-8:30 PM in CUE 518.  His presentation is titled:  The Biology of Butterfly Color Patterns.

The 98th Annual Meeting of the Pacific Branch of the ESA theme is “The Changing Landscape of Entomology in the Pacific Branch.”   Meetings will be held in Tucson, AZ, on April 6-9, 2014.  Register at the Marriot Univ. Park Hotel by March 17th for special rate.
