FINANCIAL AID
Students accepted into the Entomology Department
compete for available state or grant-supported research and teaching
assistantships. Acceptance of admission by the Entomology Department
and Graduate School does not guarantee a financial assistantship.
However, students typically enter
the program with support from state research assistantships from
the research programs of their major advisor. In 2006-2007, the
stipend for entry-level M.S. students was approximately $1,332./month
for nine months; and approximately $1,1413./month for nine months
for Ph.D. candidates. During the summer months students are paid
as an (These assistantships are subject to change based on legislative
appropriation). There are opportunities to attend local, regional,
and national scientific meetings to present the results of thesis
or dissertation research. Limited scholarship funds are available
on a competitive basis for graduate students seeking additional
research or travel funds from the Graduate School and the Graduate
& Professional Student's Association (GPSA).
COST OF STUDY
Effective August, 2006, resident graduate tuition
for more than 9 hours of enrollment is $3533./semester; nonresident
tuition for more than 9 hours is $8,602./semester. Students awarded
a graduate research assistantship are eligible to receive a fee
waiver. Part-time resident tuition for 9 hours or less is $353./credit
hour and $860./credit hour for nonresidents. Part-time students
must pay for a minimum of 2 credit hours per semester. Other fees,

REGULAR STUDENT STATUS
Applicants with at least a B (3.00 on a 4.00
scale) grade point average, or the equivalent in the last 60 hours
of their graded undergraduate work, from a recognized college
or university; and at least a B grade point average in any graduate
work from a recognized graduate school are eligible for admission
to regular student status. For interpretations, inquiries should
be addressed to the Dean of the Graduate School. Students with
a baccalaureate degree from a non-accredited institution will
be considered for admission only upon special petition to the
Dean of the Graduate School and supported by the respective department.
International applicants are required to have
the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree (normally a minimum
of four years of study beyond grade 12), demonstrated proficiency
in English (minimum TOEFL of 550 or equivalent), and evidence

may be admitted on provisional student status upon special recommendation
of the chair of the major department and with approval of the Associate
Dean of the Graduate School.

Upon approval, applications are made available to all Entomology
Department faculty members for their consideration. If you are selected
to receive an assistantship, you will receive a letter from the
Entomology Department Chair and faculty member extending the assistantship
offer.
