REGULAR STUDENT STATUS

Applicants with at least a B (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) grade point average, or the equivalent in the last 60 hours of their graded undergraduate work, from a recognized college or university; and at least a B grade point average in any graduate work from a recognized graduate school are eligible for admission to regular student status. For interpretations, inquiries should be addressed to the Dean of the Graduate School. Students with a baccalaureate degree from a non-accredited institution will be considered for admission only upon special petition to the Dean of the Graduate School and supported by the respective department.

International applicants are required to have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree (normally a minimum of four years of study beyond grade 12), demonstrated proficiency in English (minimum TOEFL of 550 or equivalent), and evidence of financial support. It typically takes about 3-4 months for International Student applications to work their way through the SEVIS system. So International Students need to be aware of this time line when making application and plan accordingly.

PROVISIONAL STUDENT STATUS

A student not eligible for regular student status may be admitted on provisional student status upon special recommendation of the chair of the major department and with approval of the Associate Dean of the Graduate School.

DEPARTMENT APPROVAL

All completed applications are submitted to the Entomology Admission Committee for their review and recommendation. Upon approval, applications are made available to all Entomology Department faculty members for their consideration. If you are selected to receive an assistantship, you will receive a letter from the Entomology Department Chair and faculty member extending the assistantship offer.
