Course Objectives

For the students to be able to:

  1. Appreciate and understand the problems associated with the taxonomy of immature stages of insects.
  2. Learn methods and develop techniques required for collecting, preserving and identifying immature insects.
  3. Recognize orders and more important families of immature insects by examination of eggs, nymphs, larvae and pupae.
  4. Understand the morphological, biological and functional basis of classification of immatures.
  5. Become familiar with the pertinent taxonomic literature dealing with immature insects.
