OBJECTIVES OF COURSE

  1. To demonstrate insect involvement with man and the environment.
  2. To provide teachers an additional arena to give students a different look at life around them.
  3. To help teachers develop relevant lession plans.

LECTURE OUTLINE

1	Introduction, insect structure and function, adaptations,
  success, etc.
1	"Insects Did It First" A look into insect form and behavior as it
  relates to adaptations that have provided man with ideas and invention.  
3	Insects and man as they relate to impacts on medicine, animals, crops
  and structure, etc. 
2	Making insect demonstrations (collections, mounts, live demos, etc.)
2	Aquatic Entomology (collecting, a field trip and observing). 
1	Forest (desert?) and meadow walk (observations & collecting)
  - a field trip

PARTICIPANT BENEFITS

  1. Adaptations/mimicry theme slide set (20-25 slides: give aways or at modest price). For show and tell classroom demonstration.
  2. "Oh-My" insect collections for student observations.

CONTACT HOURS

Contact Hours & Grade Criteria: Thirty (30) student contact hours 1 laboratory style exam & 1 final exam.
