Herbicides: Toxicology & Mode of Action.

OBJECTIVES OF COURSE

  1. To introduce students of the history of chemical weed control.
  2. To explain to students the mode of action of herbicides in both target and non-target organisms.
  3. To alert students of the dangers of herbicides toward both target and non-target organisms.
  4. To provide students with information about new herbicides and new strategies to control weeds today and in the future.

  the action of plant hormones.
3	Herbicides and fungicides that interfere with cell division.

1	Herbicides that inhibit pigment synthesis
2	Herbicides that inhibit amino acid synthesis

GRADING CRITERIA

  • The final examination will be an oral examination administered according to Brown, 1992. "How to Overcome the Closed-Door Syndrome." College Teaching 40: 101 It will be worth 100 points.
