Vincent R. Hebert

Areas of Interest

My current area of research focuses on the development of field-sampling methods and volatilization chamber system design for assessing volatile plant/insect secondary compounds useful in integrated pest management.

Other research areas include: 2) administering over regional ambient air monitoring programs that assess risks from fumigant inhalation and injury from off-target airborne herbicide movement on wine grape production, 3) developing analytical methods for assessing specific biomarkers useful for monitoring pesticide exposures to children of farm families in agricultural communities, 4) chemically assessing sublethal concentrations of pesticides and formulation materials in surface waters that can have neurobehavioral effects on salmonids, and 5) characterizing/isolating bioactive plant volatile emissions from insect herbivory that may prove useful in enhancing conservation biological control in cropping systems.  A principle responsibility of my appointment is serving as the research director over a state-mandated food and environmental regulatory science facility (Food and Environmental Quality Laboratory) that conducts federal studies under 40CFR Part 160 Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
