About Dr. E. Paul Catts:
Dr. Catts joined Washington State University in 1980 as the Chair
of the Entomology Department. Among many attributes that Paul brought
to the Department was his ability to effectively communicate. Paul
was a talented artist and illustrator. He would often turn to the
chalk board, and within minutes illustrate some aspect of the lecture,
while continuing to talk on the subject. His delivery of information
was well suited for undergraduates, graduates, and professional
audiences.
Paul was a trained parasitologist and taught Medical Entomology
at WSU for 16 years. He illustrated and co-authored, "Manual
for Medical Entomology." His research interests were the behavior
of biting flies, especially those of medical and veterinary importance.
The E. Paul Catts Memorial Lectureship was initiated in 1997.
