College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences

Department of Entomology

We welcome you to Entomology at Washington State University.  We are a group of students, staff, and faculty that are exploring basic and applied aspects of biology and our chosen field, entomology.  Our outstanding permanent and adjunct faculty, high quality facilities that include an insectary, greenhouses, apiary, well-equipped labs, and the 2.5 million specimen M. T. James Entomological Collection, make WSU an exceptional place to study and conduct research.  Our faculty are housed at the main campus in Pullman, one of our branch campuses in Tri-Cities, and at Research and Extension Centers throughout the state.  The diversity of our faculty, both in terms of geographic distribution and discipline provide students exceptional classroom and research opportunities.  Additionally, we have a group of exceptional affiliate and adjunct faculty, several of which are located at the USDA/ARS Yakima Agricultural Research Lab located in Wapato, Washington, with whom students may study.  The main areas of emphasis of the Department are biologically-based beneficial and pest arthropod management, human and environmental health as they relate to entomological issues, and teaching.
