Industry representatives from CHS invited CAHNRS to compete with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at University of Idaho for their annual food drive (see attachment).  Members of the CAHNRS Student Senate will be collecting food to donate to local food banks until March 20th.  This is a friendly competition with three rewards for participation: 1) We as a collective have an opportunity to support our communities; 2) Students join together across campuses in a servant leader effort; 3) the campus that donates the most food gets bragging rights on the Palouse.   Please support this great cause by bringing donated food items to the following locations.

If you have questions please contact the Jenica Hagler (jenica.hagler@wsu.edu), the CAHNRS Student Senate Coordinator for this event.  Bring food donations to the boxes in the Entomology Office or Food Science Office by next Thursday March 19.

The Cub Scout Day Camp is looking local help with a presentation on flying insects.   The theme this year is Take Flight and we are looking at things that fly from rockets to planes to insects.  I am wondering if anyone has a presentation of flying insects that might be interested in spending the day talking about them and hopefully, showing them some.  It would be a full day of it as we have stations set up with rotations and I would have the insects be one of our rotations.   The rotations are 45 mins. each and there would be 6 of them throughout the day.  If the presentation did not go for 45 mins., there are other activities that I can also add to that rotation.  We usually plan on around 140 boys ages 7 – 10. Would you please let me know as soon as possible if this is something that might possibly be doable?  The date would be either Wed. or Thurs., June 17th or 18th, whatever might work with someone’s schedule.  Contact Candy Field at candy.field@hotmail.com if you are willing to do a presentation.
