Attention Students

The Grad School is in the midst of processing assistantships paperwork for the Fall 2015 semester.  This means that all graduate students need to be enrolled in the required 10 credits before your paperwork can be approved.  Please register for classes as soon as possible so your paperwork can be processed and so you can get paid without any delay.  If you have not done so already, let Dory know where you will be housed for the Fall ’15 semester. We need to let Student Accounts know not to charge the non-Pullman students the misc fees.

Graduate Student Tuition Payroll Deduction Plan:

Tuition & fees are due by the 1st day of classes, August 24, 2015. Follow procedures at this link: http://www.wsu.edu/payroll/stntpay/gradenroll.htm.   The deadline to authorize payroll deduction is Sept. 7, 2015.  Unpaid account balances will begin accruing late fees on Sept. 8th.  See the attached flyers for more information.

WSU has launched its major revision to the Urban IPM and Pesticide Safety Education web site. All of the existing URLs you may have still connect to the correct pages. The older URL – http://pep.wsu.edu still works so you do not have to update your links; however, the new website is pep.cw.wsu.edu – if you notice in the URL line on your browser. One issue that was Carrie found is that the old PEP web site may be in your browser memory; thus, you will need to refresh the pep.wsu.edu address to access the new site. Ashley Hayes, our recently hired Event Coordinator, is our web master.  If you find any issues, please contact her at ashley.e.hayes@wsu.edu or email pest@wsu.edu. The dates for the 2015-2016 training season are on the new web site (calendar) and we will be launching access to the course registration system July 15 through 31 for WWA, with IPM Workshops available this week and the other courses by the end of the month.

Interim President to host open Forum July 22:

Washington State University interim President Dan Bernardo will host the second open forum for faculty and staff on the Pullman campus on Wednesday, July 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the CUB Jr. Ballroom. The WSU Board of Regents named Bernardo interim president on Tuesday. He has served as acting president since the time of President Floyd’s death June 20. Bernardo has been WSU’s provost and executive vice president since May 2014. “I want to make sure faculty and staff have an opportunity to have any questions they may have about how we are moving forward answered,” Bernardo said. “It is critical that we keep the lines of communication open in the coming months, and this is a first step in making that happen.” The open forums will provide opportunities for the WSU community to inquire about the hiring process for WSU’s next president, and ongoing initiatives such as the new medical school, the Grand Challenges research initiative, WSU’s potential partnership with Bellevue College, and implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan. WSU faculty and staff are invited to listen, and ask questions. Similar sessions will be held at WSU’s urban campuses at Vancouver, Tri Cities and Spokane later this summer.

The deadline for faculty to request Regalia (at no charge) for Convocation is Monday, July 20. Please visit http://convocation.wsu.edu/for-faculty/ for information.  Convocation is Friday, August 22, at 10 a.m. in Beasley Coliseum. Angel gets reprieve for one more semester

WSU has extended the life of the Angel LMS for an extra semester at no additional cost to WSU. This change was the result of faculty seeking more time to prepare courses in the new Blackboard Learn platform. Angel, due to go off-line in August, will now be available until Dec. 30, and both Angel and Blackboard Learn will be available for Fall 2015. Please note that the December date is final. All Angel courses must be migrated to Blackboard by Dec. 30. To help with the switchover, the Global Campus is offering a full range of personal help. You can:

  • Have one of our experts come to your office
  • Drop by our open lab
  • Attend a workshop
  • Get answers by email or through our chat box

To access any of these resources, visit lmstransition.wsu.edu. To access your new Blackboard course spaces, go to learn.wsu.edu and log in with your WSU NID and password. And, if you have any questions, send us a note at migrationhelp@wsu.edu.

The James Entomological Museum is on a YouTube video that was a featured item on the WSU Linkedin and Google Plus pages.  The video showcases the museum and identifying pesky insects. To see the video go to: https://www.linkedin.com/company/washington-state-university  or
