Janet Lane will be doing her final Master’s Exam from Puyallup on November 23, 2015 at 10:30 PM.  Her thesis is titled: Modeling the Climatic suitability of Fopius Arsinans and its Host Fly Bacteroceria Dorsalis.  Janet is advised by John Stark.  The AMS dial # is:  5702746. Conor O’Leary will be doing his final Master’s Non-Thesis final exam from Wenatchee on November 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM.  A copy of his paper will be available soon.  Conor is advised by Vince Jones. His exam will be available on AMS and the dial # is:  5702480.

Beginning Nov. 19-Nov. 30 upgrading work in FSHN 164 is scheduled to be done. Work will entail Electrical Telecom/Data Alteration, Office Alteration and Painting. This work may cause phone and computer service during this time.  See the attachment for complete details.

The week of Nov. 16-20th the GPSA is collecting hygiene items for Family Promise of the Palouse.   Items needed include: shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, lotion, tooth paste & brushes, dental floss, body wash, towels and Q-tips.  Natalie Boyle is the contact person for this effort.  Family Promise of the Palouse is an organization that provides housing to families who would otherwise be homeless.  They also help them with learning life and employment skills. Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:59pm is the last day undergraduate and professional students may withdraw (drop with penalty) from a class (Academic Regulation 68).  In myWSU, a withdrawal is called “drop with penalty”.  A withdrawal will be marked as a W on the transcript.

INTERDIS 590: Preparation for College Teaching is being offered this coming spring semester.  This course is designed for graduate students who will be teaching assistants and/or exploring careers that involve teaching at the college level. Experiences, perspectives, and best practices of college teachers from multiple disciplines will be presented. All graduate students are invited to participate in this course. The Graduate School has announced the 6th Annual Global Case Competition.  This competition brings student’s together to develop innovative interdisciplinary solutions to complex global issues facing each of us in today’s world.  Registration opens Feburary 1, 2016.  Teams of 4 to 6 students work together under a strict timeline to develop an innovative solution to the selected case. Judging the solution occurs in 2 stages. Teams present their solutions in a 2-page written solution. Expert judges evaluate each solution and the top-5 teams are selected as finalists. Each of the finalist teams presents a solution in a public forum. Judges hear each solution and pose questions to the respective teams before selecting a winner.
