As you have probably noticed, card readers have been installed on room 164 and 354. Your key will no longer work on these doors. You will need to use your Cougar Card to gain access to these rooms. The doors have already been programmed, so you have immediate access. See Adam if you have any problems with your access. Permanent Faculty and graduate students have access to these rooms 24/7. Pullman Staff and temporary faculty have access to the rooms during building hours. To request or change access setting for yourself or your students and employees, please completely fill out the attached request form. Return the form into me in 166 or by email to lawford@wsu.edu. Please contact Adam Williams or Jane with any questions regarding the new procedures now in place.
Becky Priebe & Mike Petrusky Retirement Celebration!
Join CAHNRS to celebrate the retirement of two long time employees! Becky Priebe and Mike Petrusky, both from the CAHNRS Business & Finance office will soon be retiring. Come celebrate both Becky and Mike’s service to WSU with a combined Open House reception at Ensminger Pavilion on Monday, May 9, between 2 – 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Free coffee & cookies at the CUB: Grab free coffee and cookies during both dead week and finals week from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. in the Compton Union Building. This is a great opportunity to replenish with delicious refreshments provided by ASWSU and GPSA. Good luck with your finals Cougs!
Final Grade Rosters: Final grade rosters are available now – and they will be updated on the evening of Saturday, April 30, based on enrollment changes that have happened in the last two weeks (to include students who have been added to class sections). Please add any student by this date so that the final grade roster is up to date.
Navigation to Final Grade Roster: Faculty should go to Faculty Center, and then choose the My Schedule tab. This will present every course for grading. TAs or others will need to find the Faculty Center by going to Main Menu > Self Service > Faculty Center > My Schedule.
I am an instructor, TA, or other who is authorized who needs to submit final grades. What do I need?
ü Current FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) certification. Those whose certification is expired won’t be able to submit grades. For information, please see www.ronet.wsu.edu and click on FERPA Training.
ü Access for Submitting Final Grades: Final grade rosters are available to any instructor assigned to the class with grading access. Others who are authorized to submit final grades for their departments must be added as an instructor in the Instructor / Advisor Table in myWSU, with an effective date prior to the beginning of the term, and assigned to the course in ROOMS, with 0% teaching assignment.

Deadline to Submit Final Grades via myWSU Tuesday May 10, 2016 by 5pm
Faculty may also submit their grades for students via Blackboard import. If you need instructions to do this go to: https://elearning.wsu.edu/training_resources/tutorials/grades_blackboard_to_zzusis.aspx or RONet home page.
Parking Permit Renewal Starts April 20. Washington State University Transportation Services will offer annual campus parking permit renewals for 2016-17 online beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20. Eligible annual permit holders will be contacted via WSU email. Patrons are encouraged to check their WSU email accounts on a regular basis for information. As in the past, the initial phase of renewal is restricted to current eligible permit holders. Once that phase is completed, annual permits will be made available to other parking patrons. There will be no increase in parking permit rates and no zone changes in FY17. There was a proposal to increase parking rates consistent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 1.2% and some parking zone changes. Any proposed rate increases and zone changes will be deferred until FY18. Dangerous good shipping: With the new 2016 regulations out, are you sure what you are shipping is not considered a dangerous good. Some of the commonly shipped Dangerous Good items here at WSU include:
- Specimens that are collected directly from humans or animals even if they are not pathogenic or infectious.• Lithium batteries (phones, computers, radios)
- Dry Ice• Chemicals• Bio-oils, fluids and solids
• Genetic modified samples
• Biological products, cultures
Regulation have changed, so if you are not sure, please call the dangerous good and hazardous material coordinator at 509-432-3869 and we will help you decided. Fines for shipping a dangerous good or hazardous material without labels or training have increased to $75,000.
Important Paycheck Information: If you need your paycheck sent to a summer address for the May 10 and May 25 paydays, please carefully read the following two options.
If you do not live in university housing: Change your mailing address in MyWSU before May 4 to ensure that your paycheck is delivered to your summer address. If you come back in the fall, you must again update your mailing address in MyWSU to your local address. If you live in university housing: You must fill out a Temporary Address Change Form found here on the Payroll Services Website: http://payroll.wsu.edu/pdf/TempSummerAddressChangeForm2016.pdf
Payroll Services must receive the form by May 4. Forms are also available at the Payroll Services window, French 236. Checks for those residing in university-owned housing with no Temporary Address Change Form will be held at Payroll Services for pick up on payday, May 10th and May 25th.

Friday, April 29, 2016 is the last day students may submit a cancellation of enrollment (Academic Regulation 70). To complete a cancellation of enrollment for Spring 2016, students need to go to www.cancel.wsu.edu.

Spring 2016 Commencement will be held Saturday May 7, 2016 at the Beasley Coliseum. The CAHNRS ceremony begins at 11:30 (lineup is at 11:00am).
The WSU Apiculture Program will be offering two workshops this coming June:
The Starting right With Bees short course will be on June 17th and 18th. This 2 day course will cover bee biology, pest/disease identification, colony management, honey bee IPM, and gloveless beekeeping. The format is a combination of instruction and hands on demonstration. Bring a bee veil, whatever protective clothing you are comfortable in, and lots of questions. The cost is $125.00.
There will be 2 Rearing High Quality Queens one day workshops in different locations that will present what it takes to rear high quality queens. Basic biology and various methods of queen rearing will be presented. The workshops emphasize hands on instruction in queen rearing methods, with lecture and demonstrations. Students will be involved in various steps including: setting up cell builders, grafting, and establishing mating nuclei. Both queen right and queen-less systems will be demonstrated. Bring a bee veil and whatever protective clothing you are comfortable in. The cost for this workshop is $175.00. Instructors for the workshops are Steve Sheppard, Susan Cobey & WSU Bee Lab. graduate students.
